What to do this school year to set yourself up for greater success in the future.

Hi there.
So, maybe you weren't counting on going back to school this year and you're disappointed that your job search didn't pan out.
It's okay - we all face setbacks from time to time.
But don't worry, there are still plenty of opportunities for you to build your experience and set yourself up for success in the future.
Check out the three tips below:
"Let's make this school year about setting both your students and yourself up for success. Embrace the opportunity to enhance your skills and grow together."
Tip One:
One thing you can do is to sign up for cadres that allow you to train adult learners, such as other school staff. Many companies and organizations often lean toward hiring transitioning educators with experience building capacity in adult learners.
So, this could be a great way to gain valuable experience.

Tip Two:
Another idea is to lead a few grade-level-wide, school-wide or district-wide projects or implementations.
Companies like candidates with project management experience. This could be a great way to showcase your leadership skills and add value to your resume.

Tip Three
Connect with professional development trainers and consultants, etc., that work for education companies and edtech firms that visit your school.
Approach them, introduce yourself.
Compliment them on specific areas of the training and/or key features of the product or service that you like, etc.
Lastly, ask them about their journey to landing that particular career and what advice they have for someone looking to enter a similar field.

You could begin by saying something like:
"I'll be retiring from my school district in a few years. My goal is to begin researching and exploring various education careers in the private sector for my next career. What piqued your interest in this role? How did you set yourself up for success for landing a role like this? I would love to learn more."
Don't be afraid to ask if it's possible to reach out to them in the future to gain more insights about private sector education careers.
"Let's make this school year about setting both your students and yourself up for success. Embrace the opportunity to enhance your skills and grow together."
Wishing you all the very best,
